Camp Greenville is an overnight camp established in 1912 that hosts boys and girls from throughout the region and the world for summer camps, retreats and specialty camps. You will get to experience what the great outdoors of Western North Carolina and South Carolina have to offer.

 

YMCA Camp Greenville is seeking a cause-driven leader to fulfill the role of Teen Leadership Coordinator. The position will serve on our summer leadership team. This person will assist/coordinate the leadership and management of our Leadership Development Program Participants (LDPs) and Division 4 (10-12th grade campers). This would include providing guidance & support of LDPs serving in cabins and in service corps, our service-based leadership sessions. The Teen Leadership Coordinator will develop and maintain the high standard for LDP conduct and guide them in their roles of supporting camp and helping them become the next core of leaders for camp.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for training, supervising, and overseeing teen leadership campers or LDPs.
  • Ability to work with participants of all backgrounds.
  • Maintaining rosters, checklists, schedules, and reporting information in a timely manner.
  • Works to troubleshoot any issues between LDPs and staff/campers.
  • Conducting evaluations on all LDPs in cabins at the end of each session.
  • Evaluating program to increase benefit to leadership campers.
  • Lead daily meetings for teen leadership campers with helpful content for LDPs
  • Assist with leading daily LDP meetings.
  • Assist with staff evaluations throughout summer
  • Assist with any high adventure program facilitation (High ropes, zip line, etc.)
  • Facilitate and manage schedule for week-long training sessions for first year teen leaders.
  • Facilitate and manage a camp session of base camp for teen campers (rising 10th-12th grade)
  • Serve as a role model, upholding our camp values, and working with integrity, creativity, and safety in mind at all times.
  • Responsible for the health and well-being of the campers mentally, emotionally, and physically, during their time at camp
  • Must approach responsibilities in a fun, creative, enthusiastic, and professional manner.

Other Repsonsibilities

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities

Qualifications

  • 20 years and older required by June 1, 2024
  • CPR/First Aid Certified or ability to obtain prior to June 1, 2024
  • Meet minimum requirements to drive a 15-passenger minibus.
  • Clean MVR check (Motor Vehicle Record)
  • Experience working with high school age teens

Preferred:

  • Leadership experience at a residential camp.
