Camp Greenville is an overnight camp established in 1912 that hosts boys and girls from throughout the region and the world for summer camps, retreats and specialty camps. You will get to experience what the great outdoors of Western North Carolina and South Carolina have to offer.

 

YMCA Camp Greenville is looking for cause-driven leaders who will fulfill the roles of our Shooting Sports Specialists Team. An individual on this team will serve as a program leader for any of camp’s shooting sports activities including riflery, archery, and other target sports. The main goal for this role will be to maintain an, above all, safe and fun environment for all participants while teaching proper safety techniques of shooting sports. This team will also take care of all program supplies and areas through training and teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all shooting sports programs in accordance with ACA guidelines.
  • Maintain schedules, logs, and equipment care and checks
  • Always maintain best practice procedures by creating a safe and fun environment.
  • Supervision of staff and campers during all activity times designated to help with this program.
  • Responsible for maintenance of all program materials/spaces including rifles, bows, arrows, slingshots, hatchets, bb guns, and target ranges.
  • Connect with Program Coordinator for restocking of supplies.
  • Create a magical experience for all campers/guest in program area.
  • Ability to work with participants of all backgrounds.
  • Support cabin leader staff when not in program area and fill in for cabin leaders at times.
  • Serve as a role model, upholding our camp values, and working with integrity, creativity, and safety in mind always.
  • Responsible for the health and well-being of the campers mentally, emotionally, and physically, during their time at camp
  • Must approach responsibilities in a fun, creative, enthusiastic, and professional manner.

Other Responsibilities

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old or older or graduated high school by June 1, 2024
  • CPR/First Aid Certified or willing to obtain by June 1, 2024.
  • Willingness to work on a team in the support of the mission of camp.
  • Ability to work with campers/guests of all backgrounds.

Preferred:

  • Shooting Sports certification/training from a recognized governing body
    (State 4-H, NRA, USA Archery)
  • Preferred 21 or older
