Camp Greenville is an overnight camp established in 1912 that hosts boys and girls from throughout the region and the world for summer camps, retreats and specialty camps. You will get to experience what the great outdoors of Western North Carolina and South Carolina have to offer.

 

YMCA Camp Greenville is seeking cause-driven leaders to fulfill the roles of our Ropes Program Team. An individual in this role will serve as a program leader of our climbing, high ropes, and zipline programming. They will serve on a team with others who will all be trained to properly facilitate and care for all ropes-based programs and the gear required to run the activities. They will guide our campers through a safe, fun, & challenging experience while maintaining ownership and safety during all ropes activities.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safety and supervision of all staff, campers, and equipment while at the challenge course, climbing room, rock site, and zip lines.
  • Create a magical experience for all campers/guests in program area.
  • Serve as a role model, upholding our camp values, and working with integrity, creativity, and safety in mind always.
  • Ability to work with participants of all backgrounds.
  • Responsible for the health and well-being of the campers mentally, emotionally, and physically, during their time at your program area.
  • Must approach responsibilities in a fun, creative, enthusiastic, and professional manner.
  • Manages and facilitates the use of all high adventure/ropes-based activities (including zip lines, giant swing, climbing walls) on camp as needed.
  • Manages equipment and safety checks associated with challenge activities and will maintain the use of all ropes, gear, and logs.
  • Support daily camp activities when not in program area and fill in for cabin leaders at times.

Other Responsibilities

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 or older or graduated high school by June 1, 2024
  • CPR/First Aid Certified (prior to beginning work or ability to obtain by June 1, 2024
  • Willingness to learn how to use multiple belay systems
  • Willingness to work on a team to support the mission of camp
  • Ability to work with campers/guests of all backgrounds

Preferred:

  • ACCT Level 1 Certification
  • Experienced facilitation of challenge courses
  • Experience with indoor/outdoor rock climbing
