The Exercise is Medicine Greenville® Professional (EIMG® Pro) is responsible for the orientation, preparations, and sessions for patients in the Exercise is Medicine Greenville® program.

Responsibilities

Must follow the following EIMG®Pro Procedures

Orientation

  • Conduct orientation appointment with patient.
    • Greet patient at the designated meeting point of facility.
    • Direct patient to pertinent areas of facility, avoiding traditional tour format.
    • Administer code of conduct forms to patient for completion.
    • Educate patient on contraindications to exercise and contraindications checklist.
    • Educate and instruct patient on proper use of blood pressure monitor provided for self-monitoring prior to every session.
    • Conduct pre-assessment.
    • Confirm participant first session start date and time.
    • Advise participant on proper attire for first session.
    • Complete appropriate membership paperwork and information
  • Enter pre-assessment data into REDCap and EIMG®Pro Consult Summary form.
  • File completed patient paperwork per HIPAA compliant guidelines.

Session Preparation

  • Assemble Patient Information Packet to be distributed to patients at first session.
  • Ensure location is available/reserved for sessions (i.e. classroom), if applicable.
  • Plan session exercise prescriptions, including any applicable supplies needed (i.e. white boards, posters, etc).
  • Gather all necessary equipment and supplies for session.
  • Check voicemail and email for cancellations or notifications of absences prior to every session.

Sessions

  • Conduct 12-week program comprised of one-hour sessions held twice a week.
  • Sessions
    • Greeting
    • Complete Patient Contraindications check list at each session, including patient blood pressure measurement.
    • Educational discussion based on handout in Patient Information Packet
    • Execute appropriate Building Blocks in accordance to patient assigned modules.
    • Transcribing exercise prescription and notes is recommended during session.
    • Wrap-up discussion and Goodbye
  • Enter session data (exercise prescription and notes) into REDCap after each session, preferably within 24-hours and no later than one week.
  • At completion of 12-week program, the EIMG®Pro will conduct a post-assessment.
    • Final measurements
    • Patient Exit Survey (administered by EIMG®Staff other than patient’s EIMG®Pro)
    • Present program completion certificate

Closing the Loop

  • Complete final data entries into REDCap
  • Complete EIMG®Pro Consult Summary Form for all patients who attended one or more sessions with the EIMG®Pro, including patients who dropped prior to completing the 12-weekprogram. A form for each patient must be completed and sent to the appropriate EIMG®Coordinator/RN Care Coordinator, via secure fax line, within one business day
  • Stay alert to any and all problems that may occur during assessments and/or members exercising including correcting any improper training techniques.
  • Be a role model of a healthy lifestyle
  • Represent the YMCA at community functions, health fairs, and special events.
  • Attend trainings and meetings as required.
  • Actively pursue ways to incorporate character development and the four core values of Caring, Respect, Honesty, and Responsibility.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude while providing superior member service.
  • Demonstrate a sincere pride in your work and in the appearance of the fitness center, assessment area, and the YMCA facility at all times.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field
  • Must complete Exercise is Medicine Greenville (EIMG) certification within 60 days, if not already certified
  • Must hold NCCA Personal Trainer certification or higher, preferably ACSM
  • Must hold a current CPR/AED, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention and BBP certification.
  • Excellent member service skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, & physiology.
  • Computer skills involving Microsoft Office and email.
  • Desire for health, wellness, and fitness promotion.
  • Ability to perform under stress and reach deadlines.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Personal passion for health and fitness.
