Overview

The Donor Stewardship Manager supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position plays a key role in fostering lasting relationships between the YMCA of Greenville and its donors, encouraging a culture of gratitude and generosity across all giving levels. Working in close partnership with the Vice President of Development and Chief Development Officer, this role helps manage annual and capital campaign activities, ensures accuracy in donor data systems, and supports communications and events that inspire ongoing support. The role blends strategy and execution to deliver meaningful donor experiences that align with the YMCA’s mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

 

The Donor Stewardship Manager exercises discretion and independent judgment in matters of donor strategy, engagement planning, and data interpretation. The role requires advanced knowledge of fundraising systems, applies specialized donor stewardship practices, and contributes to strategic planning efforts aligned with the YMCA’s development goals.

Responsibilities

Database & Reporting

  • Maintain and manage the donor database, ensuring accurate, consistent, and up-to-date information.
  • Enforce data entry standards, oversee data hygiene, and manage duplicate records.
  • Generate mailing/emailing lists, reports, and dashboards to support development activities.
  • Partner with Finance for monthly reconciliations, pledge tracking, and audit support.
  • Provide administrative and technical support for online giving platforms, including MobileCause and Double the Donation.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to donor data integration, recurring gifts, and matching gift processing.
  • Oversee and optimize platforms and processes that support donor engagement and revenue growth

Donor Stewardship & Support

  • Oversee donor acknowledgment processes and maintain consistent stewardship cadence.
  • Track multi-year pledge schedules, send reminders, and manage fulfillment rates.
  • Lead at least five donor-facing cultivation and stewardship events annually.

Capital Campaign Support

  • Support campaign pipeline in Raiser’s Edge and support moves management efforts.
  • Conduct prospect research and develop cultivation strategies in collaboration with campaign leadership and volunteers.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in prioritizing donor engagement strategies, planning, data interpretation, evaluating campaign effectiveness, and recommending improvements to senior leadership, including the CDO and VP of Development

Organizational Engagement

  • Contribute to development goals as part of the YMCA’s annual strategic plan.
  • Support integration of systems across departments, including Membership, Finance, and Marketing.
  • Assist with donor education and engagement tools, including newsletters and impact reporting.
  • Collaborate with program and development staff to identify meaningful volunteer opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and assist with tracking engagement metrics and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with VP of Development and CDO in shaping annual giving strategy and identifying major donor cultivation opportunities.
  • Participate in strategic planning and performance goal setting for development initiatives.

Other Expectations

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities

Qualifications

*Compensation will be determined commensurate qualifications and experience.*

  • Bachelor’s degree in non-profit management, communications, public relations, marketing, business administration, or related field
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in areas like fundraising or development, donor relations/stewardship, event coordination, and/or volunteer management
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience with Database administration (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Blackbaud, Daxko, Salesforce NPSP)
  • Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is often preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply independent judgment and strategic insight in a donor-facing role.
