Overview

The YMCA of Greenville is a dynamic and rapidly growing association that seeks to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

 

The Annual Giving Associate supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this position supports the YMCA of Greenville’s fundraising and donor engagement strategies, with a primary focus on Annual Campaign (AC) donors giving between $1,000–$5,000. This role helps execute day-to-day development operations, supports donor stewardship, and strengthens branch-level engagement through storytelling and monthly presence. This role plays a key role in advancing the mission of the YMCA through relationship building, campaign coordination, and donor communication.

Responsibilities

Donor Engagement & Stewardship

  • Manage a portfolio of mid-level Annual Campaign donors ($1,000–$5,000).
  • Develop and execute stewardship plans with quarterly touchpoints (minimum 4x/year).
  • Identify and qualify at least 15 donor prospects annually for potential major gift cultivation.
  • Proactively share YMCA impact through personalized updates, branch-based storytelling, and program visits.

Annual Campaign & Branch Engagement

  • Support day-to-day operations of the Annual Campaign, including planning, materials, volunteer coordination, and appeals.
  • Maintain a visible and collaborative presence across YMCA branches to support fundraising efforts and deepen member-donor connections.
  • Create and distribute impact reports and donor communications that highlight mission delivery and campaign progress.
  • Collaborate with program staff monthly to source meaningful stories and visuals that demonstrate the mission in action and strengthen donor connection.
  • Support the creation of compelling donor communications by gathering program data, participant stories, and outcomes to highlight impact across campaigns and initiatives.

Data, Reporting, and Systems

  • Maintain accurate donor information and activity tracking within the YMCA’s CRM system (e.g., Raiser’s Edge).
  • Generate reports and dashboards to track progress toward KPIs and inform strategy.

Campaign and Event Support

  • Assist with the design and implementation of fundraising campaigns across direct mail, digital, and in-person platforms.
  • Support special event planning and execution in collaboration with branch and department teams.
  • Assist in preparing timely and accurate impact reports, donor updates, and stewardship materials that align with funder requirements and inspire continued support.
  • Help draft campaign materials and internal communications including online landing page for volunteers and peer to peer fundraising.

Other Expectations

  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities

Qualifications

*Compensation will be determined commensurate qualifications and experience.*

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as non-profit, customer service, communications or program support
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in customer service, communications and/or program support role
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience using donor management systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce NPSP) is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization is often preferred.
  • Prior involvement in donor stewardship, campaign coordination, volunteer engagement, or event planning is a plus.

BENEFICIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable with data entry, database use, and tracking metrics
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong customer service mindset and professionalism when engaging with donors and volunteers
  • Basic knowledge of fundraising principles and donor engagement best practices
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency
  • Passion for the YMCA mission and community engagement
  • Bilingual (if applicable to the service area and community)
  • Creative mindset for identifying stories, writing donor communications, or assisting with materials
