The Maintenance Associate is responsible for performing duties related to housekeeping, facility/property maintenance, building repairs, landscaping, and vehicle maintenance. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a preventive maintenance program, including the management and administration of related contracted services.
  • Assists with assignment, implementation, and completion of work orders through the assigned management system.
  • Works with contracted service providers on the completion of facility projects.
  • Provides excellent service and maintains positive relations to members, guests, program participants, and co-workers in the Y.
  • Performs basic building maintenance repairs and upgrades.
  • Operates equipment and machinery safely.
  • Performs landscaping and grounds duties to provide a safe and presentable property year-round.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to ensure effective housekeeping of the facility as assigned and ensures member satisfaction.
  • Ensures that all safety and risk management standards are adhered to.
  • Reports unusual conditions and/or foreseeable problems to management.
  • Develops ability to work without constant direct supervision.
  • Advises Property Manager on maintenance and custodial issues and projects as requested.
  • Works alongside staff to ensure upkeep and operations of all camp facilities and equipment.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities
  • Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc.
  • Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk
  • Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers.
  • Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violation using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures
  • Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization’s commitment to protect their consumer from abuse
  • Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in facility management or closely related field
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
  • Willingness to be trained and learn new skills and operations
  • Strong communications, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments
